Frequently Asked Questions

Who is my assigned advisor?  Students are not assigned to a specific advisor in this department. We encourage you to work with a faculty member with whom you are comfortable. There is a listing of faculty members familiar with the curriculum and career opportunities specific to each concentration located in the 2nd floor of Moby. Our department also utilizes “Peer Advisors”. A peer advisor is a student, trained to answer your questions regarding course selection, campus resources, and career options.

What is open advising?  Open advising is held during pre-registration each semester. Faculty members and peer advisors are available during designated times for advising in the Department of Health and Exercise Science in 2nd floor Moby.

What is repeat / delete? Repeat/Delete is an option for undergraduate students to repeat up to nine credits of CSU courses. The initial grade will remain on the transcript but only the new grade will be used in calculating your GPA. It is the student’s responsibility to request a Repeat/Delete option from the Registrar’s Office (Admin Annex Room 100) before the W-drop period for the course.

If I’m already certified in CPR and First Aid do I still need to enroll in EX 240? No. If you have a current certification for CPR and First Aid, you are welcome to bring a copy of your current certification card to our main office – Moby 220. We will put the copy in your student folder and you will not need to enroll in First Aid and Emergency Care (EX-240). However, you still need to graduate with 120 credits. You may need to complete a two-credit elective course fulfill the 120-credit graduation requirement.
